Hot Springs County Airport Relocation Project

GDA Engineers is excited to be working with the Hot Springs County community to build a new airport north of Thermopolis along Highway 120 over the next five years.  Their existing airport does not meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.  GDA Engineers will provide multidisciplinary technical expertise for this extensive project involving planning-integrated engineering design, land acquisition, surveying, and construction administration. Estimated total funding for the project is $20 million.  Approximately 90 percent of eligible construction costs will be funded through the FAA Airport Improvement Program, a user fee based trust fund for airport development.  An additional 8 percent will come from the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Aeronautics Division with a local contribution of the additional 2 percent.  GDA recently completed a runway rehabilitation project at the existing airport and was involved in the environmental assessment for the new airport location.
